This sculpture is entitled 'Witness', This is the actual meaning of the Greek word from which we get our word 'martyr'. It
gets forgotten that acts of genuine martyrdom are frequently female, whatever the repertoire of imagery in the collective
unconscious may tell us to the contrary.
